There was one video of a raccoon with short spiral (spinal) syndrome. One clip gained significant traction on Instagram, then other platforms started posting it (Reddit, X), then news articles started picking it up — it was very cute. More videos started coming out of it as a baby. Short spinal syndrome is extraordinarily rare.
No vamps. This coin did not have vamps — "vamps" meaning liquidity/quality all flowing into one coin. All the quality essentially flowed into one coin because you couldn't create a competing token: there was not really an owner of it, it was just an animal. Like an animal connected to a coin at a zoo — just one element that was trending on social media.
- All-time high: ~$20M
- The Seattle Seahawks changed their profile picture to Jimothy. Many people started saying "we are all Jimothy." Lots of memes from big media brands too.
- Distribution: not really bundled much. Some KOLs got in late. Very, very organic.
- Meta at the time: was not an animal meta — it was just coming off the back of the Ansem token dropping. All of this occurred essentially during a bear market.
Chain of causation:
- Instagram video viral → someone creates coin (~50K MC)
- Video gets more Instagram viral → ~600K MC
- Reddit + TikTok viral → ~1M MC
- Viral on X → ~2M MC
- News coverage → push to ~4M MC
- Big brands create memes and change PFP because it is a new cute character → ~10M+
