$ONKEY is a Solana meme coin launched through Pump.fun and based on Onkey, a mischievous monkey character created by the independent animator and illustrator Nobey One (@NobeyOne), whose YouTube channel has roughly 237,000 subscribers.
Origin
Two short animations drove the character's reach. The first, simply titled "onkey", appeared around 16 August 2026. The second, "onkey you're ruining my life", followed around 18 August: a short in which the monkey eats hundreds of dollars' worth of bananas, ruins his owner's life, attracts a $25,000 purchase offer, and is nevertheless kept. The version posted to X gathered thousands of likes and passed 100,000 views quickly, while the Instagram reel travelled considerably further, with hundreds of thousands of likes and multi-million view figures circulating.
The art style carries a nostalgic quality that commentators compared directly to Matt Furie's Pepe, which fuelled the "next organic meme" framing. The banana became the running community joke.
